This is a basic course designed to help participants in their preparation to gain access to the work force or further study. Three major areas of study are covered: Basic communication skills, OH&S and Prepare for work. Some learning activities will include: methods of communication used in the workplace (computer, telephone, fax), safety issues, rights and responsibilities of all involved in a workplace, job search skills, resume writing plus physical team building sessions. The course is presented in a friendly and interactive environment both in formal and informal settings aimed at gaining knowledge and confidence. It is designed to be appropriate for the participants with assistance available for those who may benefit from extra help. Training is funded by Dept of Education & Training.
